Conjuncti, WHAT?
| Posted on Tuesday, Apr. 08, 2008 at 11:14 PM
Well recently, my eye has been itching like mad which I refused to believe it is Conjunctivitis. I guess I didn't believe I had this eye infection because I barely know anything about it.
Conjunctivitis is one of the most common and treatable eye infections in children and adults. Often called "pink eye," it is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the tissue that lines the inside of the eyelid. This tissue helps keep the eyelid and eyeball moist.
Conjunctivitis can be caused by a virus, bacteria, irritating substances (shampoos, dirt, smoke, and especially pool chlorine), allergens (substances that cause allergies) or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Pink eye caused by bacteria, viruses, and STDs can spread easily from person to person, but is not a serious health risk if diagnosed promptly.
What are the symptoms of conjunctivitis?
Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid
Greater amount of tears
Thick yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep (in conjunctivitis caused by bacteria)
Other discharge from your eye (green or white)
Itchy eyes (especially in conjunctivitis caused by allergies)
Burning eyes (especially in conjunctivitis caused by chemicals and irritants)
Blurred vision
Increased sensitivity to light
It was only in Biology, that I realised I had Conjunctivitis when Simon said he got it from Lucky. Then everything comes running back, to the time Lucky had something wrong with his eye a few weeks ago. I sit next to him every morning in roll call, my loyal friend.
This is my eye:

Filled with puss, it's itchy and teary. I'm going to get eye drops tomorrow with my dad. Oh, and it's contagious! Only those who truly love me shall still sit next to me and all. :D Next thing you know, Conjunctivitis turns into a plague.
Oh, and this is Lucky:

AAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA.
Apart from having Conjunctivitis, today there was a 2 hour strike so school started at 11AM. I expected a lot of year 11s to be at school, thought everyone was committed! But it's all good, I'm starting to like Visual Arts. I don't know, maybe it's because we're doing our body of work and I feel like I'm exploring myself. It feels like those "ME" times.
After Visual Arts we had lunch, which we picked our partners for CCNF's
"So you think you can Dance?" It's funny because it's so lame, but it's gonna be fun! My partner is Jenny Dao and we're dancing to Jazz!!! WOOOOOOOO!
After lunch, I had Biology. Learning about cells still. Ahahaha, Mrs. Canak popped the question
"Does size matter?", and obviously all the guys responded yes. Umm, we performed an experiment and cleaned everything up. Then Miss told us to
clean test tubes with the test tube cleaner, and as I was doing that somehow Davis, Bona and Zep decided to crowd around. Very awkward.
Oh, and Mrs. Canak is so science-y! She told me not to touch my eye and let me Immune system do the work. :O I love Biology.
Almost Holidays!!!!!!!!

Shove over friends, I've got textbooks!
With all these textbooks, I just don't have enough space in my heart for you guys. :D
I haven't blogged because I have nothing to blog about and because I've been really tired recently. Like, I get at least 7 hours of sleep every night and I wake up feeling sleep deprived. Today I tried Clean & Clear morning bursting beads and it doesn't work.
It's almost holidays and I'm so excited! Yay, yay, yay!!!
Oh, and happy 13th birthday to my little brother Deric on Saturday :)
I'll blog tomorrow or something. I'm not promising anything.

About Me

About some time ago, my father's gamete met my mother's gamete from a process called mating. The sperm swam to the ova and fertilised it,
thus creating a zygote. About nine months later, out came me!!!
The fantastic me, Rowena. I'm currently 16 years of age, a senior student working
part time at McDonald's. Oh yeah, I'm short...
I hate writing about myself, because I think you would learn more about others when you put the effort in.
But generally, I'm totally down to Earth, playful, always broke, love Biology & my Biology teacher, love shoes, passionate about dark chocolate and love good looking boys...
Oh yeah, I'm actually quite optimistic, I don't like thinking about the bad side of things because it always just makes it worse. But then
again there must always be something bad to life. I totally hate bees with a passion. And the thought of getting your periods when you least
want it. But I'm just any ordinary teenager living the life.
